Hold a copy of Carl's birth at 8.00am on 4th May as recorded by hisfather at 11.00am on the 5th May in Erlenbach. Witnessed by JohannesHeil, aged 38 yrs, who lived on the Square in Erlenbach. Father listed asa Farmer and Herdsman of 45 yrs and mother as Maria Heil aged 40 yrs.

Marriage certificate held (MX 647756; application no 5267A, married WestHam, London).
Lived at time of marriage at 15, Osnaburgh Street, Regent's Park, London.Listed as a tailor. Wife of 93, Euston Road, St Pancras, London.

By the time Elizabeth was born they lived at 5, Absolom Road. Later livedat 43, Golbourne Gardens, and then probably in Wembley (Alperton). Son,Wilheim gives an address of 3, Bowrons Parade, Alperton at the time ofhis marriage (1918). Laterafter his death, his wife lived above a shop(run by Rose and Elice) in Wembley High Street.

At some time he became a naturalised British subject.

After the first World War all of the girls in the family changed theirsurnames to Beale and the boys called themselves Cooke. This was becauseof the anti-german attitude of many British people.

Buried in grave No 23 in Section F. Was called Wembley Burial Ground,Clifford Road, Wembley. Now under Brent (tel: 02089022385).

Carl was thought to have come from a family of 9 brothers and 1 sistercalled Gretchen (??). Often went back to holiday in Germany. Once hebought back a grapevine for the garden.

As a high quality Ladies' tailor he travelled to and fro between London and Paris. Made riding habits, including long riding skirts for ladies.Shop/rooms in Conduit St. Burdett Coutts were his clients.

Had family contacts in Berlin. His daughter Emily often holidayed in Germany, and Elizabeth was taken there as a baby.
